Paralympics 2024 has already begun with a huge boom on 28th of August and will be live till 8th of September 2024.
This year it will going to be held in Paris, France for the third time in 2024, earlier it was organised in 1920 and 1924 in a row.
There will be around 22 different sports to compete in the 2024 Paralympics. Included in this are both Summer Paralympic sports and some new changes or additions that reflect recent developments within the overall Paralympic movement.

History of Wheelchair Basketball Paralympics
Wheelchair Basketball was originated in United States in 1940 as a leisure activity of the retired and injured soldiers of World War 2.
But slowly it gained popularity among others and the first official tournament of Wheelchair Basketball was held in 1946 and further that led to a formation of official body National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA) in United States to look after this sport and take it further on a global platform.
Finally, in 1960 Rome Paralympics, Wheelchair Basketball Paralympics made its debut with a vision to bring more players with disabilities on the forefront.
After 1960, Wheelchair Basketball not only gained a mass popularity but also evolved a lot from that time to current Paralympics 2024.
It include the Innovations at different levels like in wheelchair design, coaching techniques, and athlete training, etc that contribute’s to further sport’s growth and development and provide a platform for athletes with disabilities to showcase their skills and becoming a role model and inspiration for many people.

This time Google as a kind gesture to show their support to Paralympics and Wheelchair basketball that is getting a mass attention across the globe, they have created a doodle where we can see the players with disabilities sitting on wheelchair and throwing the ball in the basket and celebrating the win.

Paris Paralympics 2024: Indian Athletes
For the first time in the history there will be total 84 Indian Athletes will going to participate in this Paris Paralympics. This number is far bigger then the total of 54 Indian Athletes that represented India in Tokyo Paralympics.
From this number of 84 Indian Athletes 52 are mens and 32 are women’s who will be going to represent the India in this Paralympics at Paris.
In Paris, India’stop medal prospects in shooting and throwing are Avani Lekhara and Sumit Antil.
Avani was awarded gold in the women’s R2 10m air rifle standing SH1 event in Tokyo, and Sumit won gold for the men’ s F64 javelin throw three years ago.
At the Tokyo Paralympics, India won a record 19 medals and this time as per Devendra Jhajharia, President of the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI), we are expecting at least winning of 25 medals for our country.
